We are delighted to announce our further expansion plans into Latin America. With local productions experiencing significant interest, growth and investment in the last few years, this is an exciting and natural next chapter for the West One Music Group business despite the current global challenges.
Cristina Bellido, recently promoted to SVP of Business Development and based out of our New York offices, is spearheading its music licensing growth strategy. A native Spanish speaker with over 20 years of experience in the international music licensing and publishing business, Cristina is perfectly suited to further drive music usage in the Hispanic audiovisual content market. At the same time, she will continue to develop and nurture relationships with advertising agencies and brands globally, as well as serve on the East Coast Board of the Association of Music Producers (AMP).
This growth is part of our wider five-year strategy, which has also included the creation of SOMOS, a dedicated and locally produced Latin American label. SOMOS now comprises 36 albums and features Grammy award-winning producers, composers and artists and emerging talent from the breadth of Latin America.
Cristina’s team have already developed partnerships with key broadcasters throughout Latin America, including Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru, and key placements to date include notable productions such as Los Espookys on HBO and Diablero, Elite and Las Chicas del Cable on Netflix.
As part of the new expansion, we’re also thrilled to welcome Laura Luna to Cristina’s team as Music and Licensing Consultant based in Mexico City. With over 20 years’ experience in the media and marketing industries across Mexico, Laura will be instrumental in developing our position in the Mexican market.
Cristina Bellido adds “It’s clear that there’s still a huge opportunity to promote the advantages of Production Music in the Latin American markets, through high-quality local music production and licensing simplicity, we’re able to offer a fantastic service to the media industry. I’m very much looking forward to working with Laura and the rest of the team to support our clients and bring our family of 12 different music labels to the media production and creative industries across Latin America.”
“Latin America is home to truly unique talent in music, filmmaking and advertising which has continued to blossom over the past 10 years. Being amongst such creativity has been incredibly rewarding—to be able to collaborate with the best local talent and then share this music with our clients across the world is an opportunity second to none!”
