Diana Burco is a Colombian singer-songwriter and accordionist. Her debut album Diana Burco was nominated to the 2018 Latin Grammys in the Best Cumbia/Vallenato category, making her the first female artist to get this distinction.
Diana studied songwriting in the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, her musical aesthetic is a perfect blend between past and future, traditional and contemporary. She has travelled throughout Colombia searching for the most traditional folkloric music and has studied with the “maestros” that interpret them.
On one of her latest projects, “Bailo mi Pena”, she worked alongside Maestro Carmelo Torres, the last living representative of Colombia’s traditional cumbia. She has also participated in different musical programs and stages around the world, like One Beat Colombia, The Ethno World, and MAPAS (Mercado de las Artes Performativas del Atlantico Sur).
With her second album, RÍO ABAJO released on our SOMOS MÁS label, Diana creates a universe of upbeat, passionate music with fusion styles, perfectly blending elements of traditional Cumbia, Vallenato, and Bullerengue genre, with contemporary pop to create soulful authentic sounds.
Featuring emotive Spanish female vocals, warm accordion, and traditional instrumentation. The album is available to listen to now across all major streaming platforms at https://fuga.ffm.to/rioabajo
