NEW SHACK
New Shack consists of Eric Robertson and Cat Leavy, a synth-wave duo from Provo, Utah. Together they create a sonic dreamscape of grinding retro synths, punchy off-kilter beats, and airy childlike vocals. Their EP, Ways and Means, is a culmination of signature New Shack sound: nursery rhyme melodies, detuned instrumental leads, and rhythmic foundations both danceable and melancholy. Unlike many acts, New Shack produces almost completely via virtual exchange.
Both Robertson and Leavy are working producers and much of the band’s discography was created while Leavy lived in Germany. In many ways, New Shack credits this approach for their ability to collaborate seamlessly and efficiently. Ways and Means is the duo’s fourth album and will release alongside a video directed by Leavy.
