Emily Lim

Composer Emily Lim writes music for media including TV, advertising and beyond, having had music placed on Netflix, BBC, Sky Sports, ITV and Channel 4. With more than a decade’s experience writing and arranging for full orchestras, big bands and other maximalist line-ups, Emily is never more at home than when writing for large ensembles and live musicians. However, she also enjoys the creative possibilities of working in more intimate styles with unique and unusual sound palettes. 

Dual-heritage British and Malaysian, her culturally rich home city of London has immersed her in broad stylistic influences. As a trumpeter, she has had opportunities to work in pop, jazz, classical, house, Balkan beats, Mariachi and more, performing at festivals including WOMAD and Glastonbury. This varied experience has fostered a life-long appetite for creative exploration and vividly colours every aspect of her composing work today.

Emily won Best Classical Track of the Year at the Mark Awards 2023 for ‘Halcyon Sky’.
