Simon Rhodes
A NOTE ON THE PRODUCTION OF NOIR FROM THE COMPOSER, SIMON:
NOIR has been three years in the making and encompasses everything Simon Rhodes adores about the Film Noir genre. It is an affectionate homage to Alfred Hitchcock and Bernard Herrmann and not far under the surface are undercurrents of strong emotions, dark, disturbed, and conflicted, often tumultuous. Several of the tracks employ jazz elements to portray the era of chain-smoking private investigators or clandestine spymasters.
“I’m delighted with the individual performances and the orchestra(s) has really been brought to life by Robert Ziegler who is a world class conductor. Many of the pieces are performed off click so they breathe without constraint.”
